E-Mu quality converters with pros for less than the dreadful Multimedia cards (I had a bunch of soundblaster so I know what I mean).
config: P4 2.4 Ghz + 1 + 2 MB HDD 80 MB minimum install XP to not load the bike unnecessary service (network support, antivirus ...). Besides those ranting on this map (like on the other cards pros) should have a look at the many specialized forums and site (eg audiofanzine.com!). There are lots of tricks to optimize your PC for computer music. in my case, I have a dual boot: XP as a light as possible to make only the music, and another to mumuse. Verdict: there is no picture! by putting hands dirty you get a get a bike that runs like a Swiss watch: latency ridiculous, no cracking, no crash, disk access fluid (the OS on a disk, the DATA on another).
Usage:
SONAR sequence + + few soft synths hard driving synth (Korg 05RW/Kurzweil K2500).
UTILIZATION
Installation ok.
It's all about organization. Many rush headlong.
I'm going doccumenter sites and forums, I catch the maximum information (in particular thanks to those who have had a problem - hehe!). AND I'll get the latest drivers.
Then I install. Initial loss of time saves time permanent.
It's true that the PatchMix is a particular concept, but the developers had a sense close enough to the hard and finally got used to it quickly. I am not a sound engineer and I created my first slice after a half hour and everything worked (the sound going in and out or I had told him).
GETTING STARTED
No problem on this
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for almost a year and it suits me perfectly. With a little more money I should have taken the 1820M.
