The IK Multimedia T-Racks Brickwall Limiter plug-in is one that comes in the T-Racks 3 mastering software bundle, but also can be bought as an individual plug-in in either RTAS, VST, or AU formats. I've only used this within T-Racks 3, but if you have T-Racks 3 it can be used as a plug-in in your DAW as well. The interface of the plug-in is pretty complete, consisting of parameters for input, attack time, release time, and output ceiling level. It also has a variety of different modes to choose from, which will alter the sound a pretty good amount. It also has metering for output and gain reduction, which is more helpful if you're using this as a plug-in outside of T-Racks 3. A manual shouldn't be necessary for most users of this plug-in.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I'm currently running the IK Multimedia T-Racks Brickwall Limiter plug-in and T-Racks 3 as a whole on a Mac Book Pro that has a 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of RAM. Thus far I've only had a need to run this plug-in within T-Racks 3 when used as standalone software, but it's definitely nice to know that I could use this right in my Pro Tools 8 software as an RTAS plug-in if I wanted to. I don't know how well exactly it will run in Pro Tools, but the other T-Racks 3 plug-ins that I've used do take up a good amount of processing power, so I would imagine that would be the case with the Brickwall Limiter as well...

OVERALL OPINION

The IK Multimedia T-Racks Brickwall Limiter plug-in is probably the module that I use most in T-Racks 3. It always goes at the end of the chain, as I really think it does a great job of limiting my mixes and definitely can give you a good amount of volume increase if that's what you're after. It's got a very realistic sound to it that doesn't sound too processed at all. Another thing that I like about it is that it's got a good amount of control over your sound, which is something that you don't often find with a mastering limiter. I'd highly recommend just buying T-Racks 3 as a whole rather than going with just this plug-in, as it's well worth it in terms of price per plug-in that you'd get with the whole bundle. Either way, I'd highly recommend the T-Racks Brickwall Limiter both inside and outside of T-Racks 3...
