Best value: Excellent
LTD EC-1000 Vintage Black Deluxe Model ESP Eclipse, as Les Paul, made in Korea.

Sculpted body and set neck, all mahogany, 24 frets, 2 humbuckers active EMG-81 in bridge and EMG-60 to handle a volume dedicated for microphones, a tone for the set and a 3-position selector micro course .

The bridge is a TonePros Tun-O-Matic Locking and it is important to note that the guitar has self-locking mechanical (ESP I think) which always be practical.

Beyond that, the guitar is very classy and understated with this accompanied by small golden, very pleasing to the eye key matte black finish.

UTILIZATION

Personally I've always loved the LP, and the ESP LTD version is very successful, less heavy guitar a "real" Les Paul body and neck finer class!
Lighter than a Gibson LP yes, but this is not a featherweight, and after an hour and a half game up, it feels like the weight of the beast.

In my opinion the handle is very versatile, able to play everything correctly. The game is pretty fluid and not with this guitar a purist suffer from the left hand. Access to treble is good until the 20th fret, I rarely go beyond but it seems correct.

Finally in sound, if you know how to play, it sounds simply.

SOUNDS

Being very open musically but concentrating on the axis Pop-Rock-Metal, this guitar should be pretty good. It's still a pretty hard guitar, and James Hetfield, among others, has long used these two microphones, it is not for nothing.

The sound will always be more or less fat, but if you look closely you can find various sounds very interesting.

For riffs, surprisingly it goes to the bridge with the EMG-81 requires distortion. The range of sounds is between a good crunch and a big sound metal. I think it's really that determines the distortion sound. Nirvana, AC-DC, Metallica, there's something for everyone! The top in my opinion is very saturated sound.

At the level of harmonization. any style or cute Maiden solos, we pass the selector in the center position, even on the neck pickup, depending on the desired sound but in all cases there will be a solution.

My biggest surprise on this guitar was the sound clean with EMG-60, rather than correct, the sound is very nice, very clean, round and warm, against expectations that I had.

For big solos, you pass. This is a rather rhythmic guitar, no shred. To wrap beautiful chords is delicate, the sound is not very suitable.

I mainly use this guitar with my Laney transistor HCM15R accompanied by a Boss OD-3 for the distortion, I also have a reverb pedal and MT-2 (BOSS always) which is a bit too much with the EMG . I have a pretty basic config 'which allows you to get a good sound easily.

OVERALL OPINION

Looking back, (I have this guitar for a little over a year now), it's really a very good guitar in the evolution of a guitarist. I will not play it all my life but this is a very good "second" or "third" guitar.

I got it for 550 € used, then it is like new, a bargain! For this price you can not find better.

Newfoundland, about 900 €, it is a safe bet with excellent value for money but it's less appealing when you know you can have a Fender Stratocaster 60's Lacquer (one among many, a leader The work in my opinion) but in another register.

Special mention to ESP does not use the LTD as a business tool, unlike Gibson Epiphone with ahem ... The guitar is just fine and finished components are of very good quality.
Having tried the model directly above, namely ESP Eclipse Vintage Black, I suggest you take the LTD because the small difference in quality does not justify a doubled price.

If you're a metalhead at heart, this guitar fits like a glove!
