I hooked my mic into the back of my computer,started recording on cool edit, but when i hit the playback button on the diplay bar, a solid beep plays back overe the vocals. I can hear the vocals, but i also hear that solid beep, kinda like a high pitched "flat-line."What do I do? I've reduced the hiss and still can't seem to find the solution. Van you please help me?

are you using an on-board sound card? with what mic? can you be more specific?
