Best value:
Poor
8 port usb midi interface 8 IN 8 OUT, Rackmount and 19 operating in standalone
use:
with a small range expander / sampler rack, I wanted to set up once and for all my connections noon to how to patch audio.
user interface a bit sober, lack a screen for standalone mode, but I chipotte.
config
while hardware, a mac, but I do not use. 100% autonomous / 0% depending on a computer.
UTILIZATION
drivers for PC, AC seems a bit complicated, I have a mac, two possibilities:
- Use the drivers provided by Apple in 2010
- Use a small freeware program that adds a control panel for specific AMT8 / unitor8 >> not even need to run the sequencer.
https://www.potm.org/software/Unitor/
Linux, it seems that it is recognized automatically, to check.
I tested today and ca actually seems very well.
software utilies: Hard fan of the old versions, but anyway I no longer used.
last updated in 2010
saturation PM:
a little test, nothing conclusive, however, I think it's rather expanders that saturate ...
OVERALL OPINION
- Hyper complete in terms of routing filtering,
- Computer mode / automatic autonomous,
- Several types of interfaces available on the same machine (RS232, host Mac / PC, USB)
- Chainable (up to 8 at the same time)
- Patch users stored on eeprom> no battery!
- USB interface,
- Stand-alone mode, convenient for the studio
- Very robust
- Blue aesthetical rack!
not need to smpte> AMT8 instead of a unitor8
frankly in terms of speed / stability, Verily there is no better, but can be chezMOTU with a USB AV miditimepiece
I did a little comparative study between
- Edirol / Midiman 8x8 ports, in expensive secondhand, rare and less advanced in terms of functionality
- A miditimepiece AV USB, more expensive battery bp
- A roland A880, but not limited merge function and USB
basically, the AMT8, more sober in terms of interface seems to me much better equipped and above all cheaper used ...

this is the good stuff
