« Idiot proof FX utility »

Published on 06/30/16 at 21:30
Best value: Excellent
Audience: Anyone
Certainly not high-end, and lacking in deep editing capability or anything much in the way of multi-FX, the unassuming 1201 still became something of a minor cult item amongst late-1990s home studio types. Mainly I suppose because of the broad array of FX on offer, including oddities like ring-modulation, vocoding, and pitch-delay. Of course there are also the basic modulation offerings, including some dual and parallel patches, and a generous bank of 121 reverbs. The editing is all on the front panel, and while extremely limited, the ease of access means making changes is the simplest of exercises. An all-rounder that any studio denizen would find some use for.
