The DOD FX85 is a harmonic enhancer pedal designed for use with electric guitar. It has both a ¼ inch input and a ¼ inch output as it powered by either a nine volt battery or power supply. It isn’t a rackable piece of gear as it is a stomp box.
UTILIZATION
The configuration of the DOD FX85 couldn’t be laid out any easier than it is as it only has two knobs. It simply has parameters for level and presence and that’s really all there is to it. It isn’t really limiting at all as these are the only parameters you really need with this pedal and even though there are only two knobs it still provides the user with enough tone control.
SOUND QUALITY
The tone quality on the DOD FX85 is overall pretty good and I find that this pedal is nice to have around if you are looking to add a little get up to your tone. I don’t use this pedal all that frequently but I find that when I do use it I’m always happy with the sounds I can get. This being said it’s a pretty specific type of effect and shouldn’t be used all the time, its more of an effect to throw in there every once and a while. Some will find the tone change to be somewhat subtle most of the time, but when used right this pedal can do wonders.
OVERALL OPINION
I’ve had the DOD FX85 harmonic enhancer guitar pedal for about two or three years and I’m definitely glad to have it in my collection. Like I previously stated, I don’t use this effect all the time, but it is worth it to me to have it around every once and while when I do decide I want to use it because of how cheap the pedal is. DOD is known for making cheap pedals that don’t always sound all that great, but the FX85 is better than most of their other pedals in my opinion and I would definitely recommend looking into it if you are looking for a pedal for this nature.
