Music IO, an app that sends MIDI over USB
Secret Base Design has released an app that allows Apple iDevices equipped with a Mac computer to send/receive MIDI over USB.
Music IO is compatible with all CoreMIDI apps on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad so they can communicate via MIDI with a Mac computer by plugin a simple USB/Lightning or 30-pin cable. Routing between the device is bidirectionnal and the app can send large Sysex messages (dumps for instance).
Secret Base Design also included a MIDI clock sync technology between the devices, which allows for syncing without any jitter. Also, latency announced is very low.
Secret Base Design is also working on the same concept for audio and will add in a future update multiple iDevices support on a single Mac with routing options, and a clock feature on Mac.
