Music IO is compatible with all CoreMIDI apps on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad so they can communicate via MIDI with a Mac computer by plugin a simple USB/Lightning or 30-pin cable. Routing between the device is bidirectionnal and the app can send large Sysex messages (dumps for instance).
Secret Base Design also included a MIDI clock sync technology between the devices, which allows for syncing without any jitter. Also, latency announced is very low.
Music IO requires a server app on the Mac side. The app is available at the AppStore for $2.99 / 2.99 € and the OS X Server can be downloaded from musicioapp.com.
Secret Base Design is also working on the same concept for audio and will add in a future update multiple iDevices support on a single Mac with routing options, and a clock feature on Mac.
