UTILIZATION

Although the publisher's website does not work, it's easy to find the latest drivers on the web. Installation is fairly easy, I did not encounter major difficulties. At the outset, this new sound card in the PAF (Landscape Digital Audio French) is very strong: Submit a rack 8E / S, 2 analog XLR preamp and phantom power, 1 / S digital coaxial or optical sampling at 96kHz 24bits, 1st/2nd MIDI ... All for less than 4000FF.

is an excellent card, but as is often the case difficult to configure. Forget Windows 2000 already, the drivers are still buggy. Therefore prefer Win98SE.

Then the choice of drivers: The site Hoontech is a model of complexity or "how to make things complicated when they can be simple." In short, it's a jungle and it will be sure to download the correct driver. That said, those delivered with the installation CD seems to be good.

Then comes the big one: The console "External Link" which allows you to "patch" inputs and outputs. The manual is terse and that you will have some tests before to understand its operation. That said, once the install and getting started OK, we take real pleasure to use.

The current drivers are very stable and relatively convenient because you can assign each output to a particular use (GSIF, ASIO or MME). That said, I use another PC to run Gigasampler, so I have not tested. In any case, while ASIO is "rock solid"!

The updates have been frequent since the release of the product, but we are still waiting WDM drivers ... Not very annoying for the moment!

So everything is running pretty well on my config: Athlon 900 on Abit KT7 with 256MB of RAM and SCSI UW.

With Cubase, which I use most of the time, latency to 12ms tops out at 44kHz. That's enough for my ear and not too stressful for the system.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this card for 6 months now and once the right configuration is established, it is an excellent system that can be counted. Anyway, I'm changing my old Guillemot Home Studio Pro64!

In conclusion, the DSP24 is not a "easy" access. (Exists there any way in this area?). Once taken over, it's a complete system to value for money and unbeatable choice I would do this without any hesitation ...

For those who hesitate, competitors called Delta 66 or Wami Rack ... Compare prices, specs and make your choice!

I haven't experience any problems with the drivers, so I haven't updated them (don't update a good working system... unless you want to add bugs ). I use it with Cubase 4. I don't remember the exact latency time but it's imperceptible... I never tried to record several channels simultaneously...

I've been using it for one year. I don't regret having bought it and I would buy it again without any hesitation. Summary:
Pros:

* Easy installation (/! with Windows. It seems there are problems with Linux and Mac....)

* Perfect sound

* Many inputs/outputs so that you can use it as a mixer (but don't expect to connect an acoustic drum kit...)
