I DCID for this card because of its many inputs and outputs and South Intgr. In addition to the pre-amp on between 1 and 2 can delay the purchase of a pre-amp microphone (including voices) beefier, budget issue. I had one before Isis, like many, and I find so most CHARACTERISTICS (many), but three divisions above (converters, latency, etc.). And with lots of "little more "as the headphone output faade.
I use this card to record my band "home." Most of the time 2 inputs are sufficient, but sometimes also to catch live with five or six instruments. I also use the South to control my sampler, bote my rhythm and my expander, the 8 inputs can then record the audio tracks on a time and then spares s'attaqure the mixing and mastering.
Configuration:
CM Elite K7S5A
Duron 1GHz CPU
256 MB SDRAM
IBM 20GB IDE HDD 1 (with a system partition o run Win98SE and cubase)
1 Maxtor 40GB IDE HDD (where I store and I record the audio)
The DSP24 is home to the three slot (IRQ5, not shared)
With everything (because it's not just the audio ...)
2 ethernet cards (slots 2 and 5) that share IRQ10
A SCSI card (slot 1) is on IRQ11
In the bios I disables almost all (r-I active the usb piecemeal)
Two small complaints: the average quality headphones (there's a breath in me, even zero volume!), And pre-amps that are missing some dynamics (cot transparent sound nothing wrong ).
The quality is at the rendezvous, and a price more than adequate.
UTILIZATION
The installation (physical + driver) is easy, the problem - as always - then begin when it comes to tweaking the BIOS, the irq and Windows. I can not advise the site Skinah: http://members.optushome.com.au/skinah/Cport.htm Thanks also to view posts by O. Frappier, who proved to me that I could m ' out with my config. As often happens with the computer stuff, a nickel not work the first time.
Be careful using the map-mre, and to a lesser extent the quality of the RAM, see the website of Hoontech their recommendations and their list of compatible gear. With everything running the card is very feasible. And then once that is done we do not encounter more concern and can make excessive zik!
GETTING STARTED
The new drivers walk trs well. I can record 8 tracks 8 instrument spares, without any click or pop on arrival. OK, it's the least we can do on paper, since it is made for such use. The essential point is that the config is stable, and I did not have to install r-or all of the drivers or Systm for months.
I use it mostly in Cubase VST 5. I RULES gnralement 21mS latency. Low enough to be almost transparent enough lev to have no problem in intensive use.
OVERALL OPINION
I've had six months. APRS prompts rglages and difficulty of installation / beginners paramtrage at all, everything went extremely well. It was not understanding why so many people have problems with, but perhaps I have the chance to have the computer stuff (including motherboard) compatible with this card. In conclusion I am extremely satisfied. And I highly recommend it.
