Were there any compatibility issues?
So far, there have been no compatibility issues. I use a Macbook (2.2ghz, 4gb Ram, 320gb HD) with Logic Pro 8 and a Presonus firepod. Everytime I load it up it works great.
Is the general configuration/setup simple?
There are a few different dials on the face, but after playing around with each one, I was able to get a good grasp of what they do. I usually just start off with a preset (there are quite a few) and go from there. This unit pretty much always adds an interesting sound to every track i put it on.

Is the manual clear and sufficient?...
So far, no need for a manual. If you are familiar with audio equipment and you have decent ears, you will get the gist of this unit.
Are the typical functions easily accessible?
All the dials are right on the face so I would consider them easily accessible.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Does the software work correctly in this configuration?
Yes, it works great, I have one complaint about it but I will address that below. Overall it seems to process the signal very well and I have yet to notice any latency issues.
What performance are you getting? (if quantifiable)
If I had to quantify it, I would give it a 10 out of 10. In a nutshell, it is a very powerful distortion unit. Like I stated earlier, I use Logic 8 which has a bunch of built in processors which includes a few distortion units. I really enjoy them but the devastator blows them out of the water. Its gritty, strong (weak if you want it to be) and down right evil sounding. I really enjoy it and use it much more often than the Logic units.
Is this configuration (software and gear) stable?...
So far it has never crashed or bugged out on me. I almost never bounce my tracks until the very end just incase I want to tweak them, so I depend on my units to be very stable and this hasn't disappointed me yet.
For how long have you been using it?
The devastator has been in my arsenal for about 4 months now and has made it on 10 of the 12 tracks on my last album.

OVERALL OPINION

What thing do you like most/least about it?
What I like most about the devastator is its wide range of distortion and its excellent sound quality (I recommend trying the telephone preset, pretty neat). What I don't like about it, which happens to be what I don't like about a lot of plugins, is the lack of a wet/dry or mix option. Sometimes I just want a little distortion on a track, but to do that you have to create a whole new track, copy the previous one and then effect it and finally adjust the volume so the combination of the two doesn't blow out your mix. Very time consuming. In my opinion, every plugin needs a wet/dry or mix feature on it. This should be the standard.

Did you try many other models before getting this one?
I tried the Logic distortion plugins which didn't stand up to the devastator.
What is your opinion about the value for the price?
I think I paid only $60 for this plugin, which is cheap compared to some of the price tags you see out there. Overall, good quality for a low price.
Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice?...
Yes I would.
Precision and quality of the sound?
Very good crafted unit, and the sound it awesome!!!
