1 Portable digital audio recording
Hi all. I'm just starting out in music on my laptop. Have gathered together the essentials I think I need: wavelab, my trusty elec guitar, soundcard (maudio preusb) and a midi keyboard. Thing is, I also wanted a device to sample sounds when I'm out and about, record conversations, and so on, things I can use in my music. I also need it do be disctrete! I've seen the Sony PCMD1, Marantz's PMD 660, Maudio's microtrack and edirol's R9 (man that's lovely!). These seem to be the main one's about and are all a good bit beyond my price range! I'm asking for opinions as to whether a top end dictaphone - the kind of thing olympus do - would be good enough for my needs, or if their sound would be to poor to use?

Any and all advice would be much appreciated - ASh
