Thread aux send return?

I am trying to hook my dbx compressor up to my carvin c2440 through the aux send/return. I am going from my aux send on my board into the input of the compressor. Then from the output of my compressor to the return 1 on my boars. The meters on my compressor show nothing and there is no effect. What am I doing wrong?

#1 test the cables youre using to be sure they are passing a signal

#2 there must be a aux send level adjustment, make sure this is up...or not muted if youre board has mutes...

#3 has the compressor worked with any other boards? or has it never worked for you? y'never know maybe you got a dud
