Hey everyone! I'm new here and just came acrossed this excellent site!
All I need to do is record vocals, with one mic at a time. I have the Shure SM58 mix, and also the E-mu 0404 PCI card.
The card doesnt have XLR connection but I am wondering if I have to use a preamp (Phantom power or something?!) for the mic, or can I just use a XLR -> 1/4" analog to record audio?
Should this be everything I need to do this?
Thanks!!!

You will need a pre-amp because the 0404's inputs are unbalanced line-level. Do not use the XLR -> 1/4" with the SM58. If you have a small mixer with mic pre's, that will do or get one of those Behringer/Presonus/ART mic preamps.
