Gutiare strat-type with
- 5-way switch
- Vibrato vintage (not good for the dive bomb ...). Not rely too much fun to shoot if Garre to the agreement! => -1
- Handle with only 21 boxes which can be annoying for some solos.
- Mechanical honest (I do not know what type ...). In any case, it does not move me
- 3 single coil pickups
- An overall volume
- A tone for the neck pickup and a microphone for the environment. Nothing for the micro acute (I wonder why this is so on strats ...) => -1
- You must remove the strings to touch the mail! Grrrr => -1

I have since 1993 and has not twisted the handle of a hair. J'au readjust a bit with the standard settings but that's part of the interview I think.

UTILIZATION

For me, the handle of a stratum is the reference. So I can appreciate that the stratum Mexico. I did not notice any differences from a U.S. base.
The guitar is light (but not too much) and handy. It is the instrument well in hand.

The treble is good access to ... but there are only 21 boxes. ! All accessible, but it certainly forbidden to play some solos, unless bender (with an "e") to death ... => -1

The selection of sounds is very simple and we have no problem finding what you're looking. Unless of course the sounds stratum is not known to produce. (See "sounds"). The intermediate poisitions really add more.

In the end, it is an instrument easy to use and very enjoyable to play.

SOUNDS

I would give three opinions on the sounds of this guitar.
First opinion: keeping the original microphones
the sounds are very good, and I use really five positions, each with their characteristics.
Channel: round and smooth
Middle: a little more sharp but very smooth
Bridge: an acute and very aggressive
Intermediate: I love (I've already said?). One has the impression of playing with two guitars simultaneously. It lacks a bit of fishing on the other hand.
The wood on my guitar I looked really good and I am very happy with the accuracy of the sound, apart from the acute micro is really too small for my taste. Other microphones n'on not a lot of power but it's not what I want on these microphones.
=> Score of 6

2nd opinion: by changing the original pickups
PAF! (Not the name of the micro ...) It gets a slap. For my part, I have changed the micro acute (a VanSandt) but what a change! I rediscover my Start! I can imagine that doing this on other microphones bring much happiness. Well, it increases the price of one guitar and one approaches a US. But at least you can select the microphone you want.
=> Score of 7 (I put a score of 7 in the notice to average ...)

3rd notice: by changing the pickups + + cable shielded with copper foil shield
It's more a slap that is taken but a wallop. I never thought it would improve both the quality of sound. Not only removes the parasites (that was what I was looking), but in addition it provides much more precision to the sound, it completely isolates the microphone from each other. After this change, I rediscovered my instrument. I wonder why these are not done as standard (with the shield in addition to the cavities). In fact, I even wonder if it's done on the US strat ...
=> Score of 8!!
So if I am so happy with this change, why only 8? Simply because a strat remains a Start ... Although very versatile, but sometimes I need a scraper to nag or more jazzy and I can not find it with this model, even after the changes. And there, I need a gibson type. If I were to judge only as a model Stratocaster, I'd say that's what I found better at this price.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it since 1993. This guitar has experienced two periods:
- Before the change of micro in 2003
- After changing a micro rewiring + + shield
I was very satisfied by 2003 (say 7 / 10 ...) But since these changes, I really have a new guitar that was worth more than € 500 to start. Certainly, there was a microphone and more (90 €), the cable (20 €), copper (10 €) and a lot of work but the result is worth it. I remain convinced that even without changing the pickups but with modifications, we arrive at something very good.

It lacks a bit of a coroner for the very large sounds (big sound, you get there anyway!) But I really love my guitar. If I ever bought a strat one day, it will not be a "simple" because US I think it will bring me nothing. If I take the plunge, I would type in the high end.

In the end, I put a 9 / 10, knowing that with her, I can not cover all the sounds I want and for that, I need other models (a Gretsch and a Variax)
