Published on 06/07/04 at 15:00i bought this guitar over at the internet (zzounds.com) i paid for $ 299.00. i own several guitars( kramer-focus 3000, jackson king v, LTD-ESP M150, Washburn maverick series), i wanted to try an ibanez guitar.
to be honest, i bought this guitar mainly because of its looks. id always like the shape of the rg's body ( not the rounded edges that you usually see on most guitars) , plus the sharktooth inlays on its fretboard, its kinda cool when you look at it.
what i dont like about like about the guitar is its poor quality when you scrutinize it ( i mean, its just an rg compared to a jem), but my point is that at least they should try to make the quality of an rg a little bit competitive to jem. its still an ibanez guitar.
the wood is made of basswood, there is no problem with the paint job - outside. i think they should also more finish the inside of the backplate just to look more descent. the floyd rose license bridge is sturdy and stays in tune. the pickups are not that bad, the middle pickup has an obvious hum when engaged. the neck is smooth and feel a little rounder and narrower compared to jackson's. the fret wire is of bad quality, ive own the guitar for about 7 months and id noticed fretwear, i mean im not using the guitar 24/7, but by this ratei should be thinking of looking for a new neck!
don't buy this guitar if you can save for higher model of rg's. now, buy, this guitar if you want a guitar to use at home for studying and practicing purposes, i think it will rise to challenge of everyday use and abuse!
