Which do you think is better overall, in general?

Also, I'm in the process of trying to set up a home recording system that will be able to record, mix and edit guitar, bass and vocal tracks, and provide midi drums and possibly other midi instruments, with a reasonably professional sounding end product. Which type of system (i.e. computer based or a multi track recorder) would you recommend to fulfill these specific requirements?

All input is highly welcome! :)

Many thanks,

definetly computer based if you need an all-around audio editing DAW.
multitrack recorders work for live and travel situations.

ok, awesome, i'll go for computer based then. cheers dude!

Does anyone here have any idea which of the following, if either, would be most suitable for my needs, and whether the software that is bundled with them will be appropriate for what I want to do?

The Presonus Firebox:

and the Digidesign Mbox:

Any ideas? :)
