I am moving into a new house in the fall, where there will be a soundproofed room (are walls an ceiling enough or do i need padding on the wall?) to be my mini "home music studio", and I wanted to ask some questions now, because last time i checked they only had the framing up, so i could run some wire threw the wall in needed. Im also thinking of either building or buying a little room with a window an desk to record in an put it in the corner with the computer and room can look in. As for gear, I can get a new computer for the studio, either pc or mac, an ive been using mac all my life, and dont really care about either platform, i just want what works best. but the upside is that if i get a mac, its leased through a company and ends up a business write-off, so im considering an intel based 20" iMac. As for hard and software, im getting 700ish dollars from work at the end of the year, so im gunna spend about 500 on gear. Im thinking of getting an M-Audio Axion 61 keyboard, some Marshall MXL mic that connects to mac, and then my favourite part, then beats. I looking for something better than the Logither Z-5600 or whatever i have, im looking for a pair of monitors, then a boomin sub in the 300-500 watt range. The question i have is how these connect to a mac that has 1 input, an i dont want to get a external audio adapter because of the sound quality issues ive seen people complain about, unless its a good one, then im all for it. Keep in mind im in canada an im 16, so its different location an currency an age...if it matters. if anyone can help, much appreciated. One last question: does it matter if your in a smoke filled room with you equipment?:D
