Alright guys. I really want to start recording- but I don't have a clue. This is my situation right now

I set-up a Linux program in a seperate hardrive. I think it's called Oubuntu. It's specifically designed for recordings. It has a drum machine called Hydrogen, which I use. The problem is I don't know what to use to connect my guitar and bass guitar into the computer. I also will need to conncet a studio microphone to the computer for vocals. Here is what I plan on getting;

Shure KSM27 Studio Microphone $299.99

Hercules Stands MS651B Tripod with 2-in-1 Boom Clamp Microphone Stand $55.99

Nady Pop Filter $19.99

AKG K 240 Headphones $129.97

So that is what I plan on purchasing so far. What do you think?

Also, what else do I need? What should I use to hook up my guitar, bass, and a mic into my computer?

Thanks for any help

They're called audio interfaces or soundcards. You need one that has XLR ins for the mic and a guitar DI input. Two products come to mind, the Line6 Toneport UX1 or 2 (USB), and the Focusrite Saffire LE. I don't know if Linux has driver support for these though.
