Hi all

I'm completely new to recording music at home/on my PC.

My question is, what software do I need to get started? My intention is to use only Linux software, probably Ubuntu Studio or 64Studio.

I'm looking to start recording at home with my guitar and PC and want to create backing drums (electronic/sampled) and other instruments (like synths, bass guitars, even piano). So far I've found Hydrogen for Linux which is a drum machine so I'll probably start there.

Is it a synthesiser I need that creates different types of other instruments (such as pianos, bass guitars, keyboards etc)? If so, what is available/recommended for Linux?
