I'm new to HSF and just wanted to say Hey!~
I'm in the middle of building my 4th home studio in ....y e a r s! (Don't wonna date myself)
This will be my first totally digital setup, so I'm looking for input on the gear I'm interested in. Having progressed from my first totally analog tape based system, to a hybrid incorporating first gen Cubase sequencer\PC Interfaced to a Miditimepiece II\ sync'ed to a Fostex deck for vocals & guitars and lastly, a P3\Win98\16bit Turtle Beach\Cubase VST\Roland Sound Canvas\in my first HardDisk recording system. The last 2 being really only any good for putting down complete idea's for songs but not good enough to produce the quality I like for actual post production.
My latest systems is based on:
AMD Athlon 64(interim)\1gig mem\WinXP\E-mu 1212M\E-mu Proteus LE\Cubase SX in 24bit\Dual LCD monitors\Paradigm nearfield monitors fed via Carver MFP amp. The system it's currently installed on is only temporary until I build my new silent dedicated audio workstation just for music. That will be AMD Opteron or AM2 Athlon, but I haven't settled on if I will go Dual core or a massive single yet. Eventually,(when the prices finally get down to under $750cnd) the goal is to get either an ACER or AQUOS 32" HDMI LCD monitor so I can have everything visible at once on the desktop. And make it easier to see everything, but that's not an immediate priority.
This time around I'm including a digital drum kit interface to upgrade from a Roland SPD8, and I'm wanting to include a compact motorized fader interface and a separate jog\shuttle\ record control with punch in\out peddle. It's these items I'm looking into now.
Anyone here using either: BEHRINGER BCF2000 B-CONTROL or JL Cooper FaderMaster MIDI Controller or MACKIE ULTRAPILOT or TASCAM US-428 or ROLAND VM-3100PRO?? ???
How about Frontier's TranzPort or AlphaTrack units??
Any input would be appreciated.
Thx Louie
