Hey there,

My name is Matt. I've been a musician since I was a kid, and have been a professional touring guitarrist for a few years.

I've always recorded rough ideas onto my computer with simple MIDI drums...just for the sake of remembering them. However, I recently bought a home and am setting up a small studio. I don't have a huge budget to work with, what with some natural fixing up I'm going to have to do around the house, but here's what I have.

2.8 Ghz PC, running WinXP
An Audigy Platinum Sound Card with front interface
Shure SM 57
XLR-to-1/4" - to go direct into the Audigy front interface

Cubase SX
Drum Kit From Hell/EZ Drummer (just got, haven't used yet)
Acid Music
Sound Forge 5.0

I also have Amplitube (which I've never really quite been impressed with yet), Edirol Super Quartet, and a bunch of plug ins.

I'd love to hear some opinions and ideas about my rig, some techniques, etc.

Thanks!
