07 April 2007 to 07:56ground noise while recording
#1
Hello:
I have a home studio, and am using the following setup. I have my computer and synth connected to a 16 channel mackie mixer. I'm using an external soundcard to record audio. I have a constant ground loop noise going in the background, and although it's low, it still comes out in my recordings. I've recently switched to a different external soundcard, but this did not change the ground noise. This is tolerable in most cases, because the music covers it up. However, when sampling 1-shot sounds like kick drums, the ground is audible at the end of the sample. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

i think your mixer might be the problem.
try moving it to a different plug.

I actually have it attached to a power conditioner.
