1 New to the Studio World
Whats poppin I'm AftAShoK I'm a rapper and would like to start producing my own beats, I've made one in school with GarageBand, but I would like to start doing it more often at my home and everything. My current setup for my rapping is simple:

1 CAD GXL2200 Large Diameter Condenser Microphone (Unidirectional)
1 Samson Accessories Telescopic Boom Microphone Stand
1 Pop Filter (real one not ghetto shit)
1 Direct Source 48v Phantom Power Unit
1 Pair of Bose Computer Speakers
1 Pair of Studio Headphones
1 Shock Mount
and My Computer with Cool Edit Pro 2.0

Please make any suggestions to improve this setup, and any product recommendations (such as preamps and such). And also any recommendations for a production setup (mixers and stuff like that). Thank you for taking the time to read this,

This is the beat I made in school with a hook I recorded: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=459832&songID=3293444

Hey ShoK, welcome!

I liked the basic tune. You need to add some other parts to keep the interest level up if you want to run the toon that long, though...... nice piano work!

So far as your setup, you need to think about your sound card and how you want to get your signals to it. For a beginning desktop system, I'd recommend something like an MAudio 24/96.
