Hey I'm new here and have a problem. I am using an edirol u25 with cubase sx and everythime I try to record the only way I can here it is if the direct monitor is on . When I first installed it I didn't have this problem but I do now I've seemed to have tried everything but I'm not getting anywhere. Also Midi isn't being read now either. That was working to but now it's not working at all. Does anybody have any ideas. Thanks!!
Try downloading the latest drivers for your edirol. Next, uninstall it from device manager and then power down. Remove the edirol from the usb port. Power up again and reinstall the edirol using the updated drivers. Oh! i almost forgot to mention, connect the edirol into a different usb port.
Hey Thanks for your response I did what you said and recording is better i still have to have the direct monitor on to hear what i'm recording as i record but it doesn't sound like before but my midi still isn't working got any ideas on that?
I need more datails on your midi routing... what are you connecting to midi, what are your trying to control? Are you using softsynths? etc., etc... The more specifics, the more we can diagnose your problem.
I'm connecting to a yamaha s 80 to the edirol. only in not out. I have vst instruments that i'm using for some sessions. one specific one is steinbergs grand. i'm not sure what you mean by softsynths?
S80 midi out to Edirol midi in; ok you got that right.
In Cubase, are your Edirol Midi inputs in Device Setup active? If not, make sure.
Open up a new project, open the instruments window (F11?), load up the vsti/softsynth (Grand), it will load up several instrument envelope tracks but will not respond to your keyboard yet. Add a midi track, assign the midi output to the Grand, make sure midi input is assigned to the Edirol. Then play and record.
Why the need for direct monitoring? That's used if you want to monitor your audio inputs - not necessary when using vsti's/softsynths. You should setup the Cubase audio engine for either Asio or DirectX/WDM drivers; preferably asio. Adjust your latency so that you can play the Grand without pops and crackles and noticeable delay.
It didn't work I 'm wonderinf my cord is bad i'm going to try a new on but i'm still having problems with audio again when i record it's softer and when it plays back it's alot louder it wasn't doing that either it seems like something s messed up but i don't kno why cuase i've tried every setting there is. the volume difference is huge compared to recording and playing it back. what's already recorded doesn't change it's only the new stuff that is being recorded it's really weird.
Hey thanks for helping me out i finnaly got it figured out i took it to guitar center to see if i needed a new midi cable it landed up being that i wasn't pushing the chord hard enough to go all the way it. i was afraid i would break it but obviously not. i feel kind of dumb but hey what you gonna do. thanks for everything.
