John Michael
« The Case of the Century! »
Published on 05/02/10 at 08:22It is a model manufactured in Asia.
The wood body is gently called "swamp ash.
According to the texture, it would seem to be one of the many varieties of Eucalyptus found (yet!) Worldwide.
The handle is made of Canadian maple and maple key also reported, but speckled.
Handle fairly large and round, which will contribute to comfort and sustain, frets a bit high, Gibson style today.
Plate so brown tortoise shell, chrome hardware, Grover mechanical style.
This is a model "Telecaster" which scrupulously respects the proportions of the original instrument, except the head which GL is a bit larger. However, some details differ, which are of importance:
The bridge has 6 adjustable saddles brass (the doc says "Brass"), which should contribute significantly to the incredible sustain of this guitar. Also the plate that receives the microphone horse drew on the back and sides, about an inch, as on the old Telecaster receiving a nice chrome cover that fits on the plate, which hastened to take off to play more comfortably. Always it is that this greater amount of metal may contribute also to the sound, comfort and support for the right hand.
UTILIZATION
The setting is correct. Strings a bit high for my taste.
The handle is very nice satin finish.
Weight, scale, access to acute: Everything is consistent with the "Tele", so perfect.
(With the weight of an ash model, anyway)
To get the sound?
There are 2 microphones, an inverter 3 position, volume and tone progressive and effective ... What else?
SOUNDS
Sounds about ... Then there is the GREAT CLASS!
Who would have dreamed of a model sold in the 500 Euros with sounds as rich and singing?
It is both warm and crystal clear. All positions are typed and interesting. Playing a bit of Volumes and Tones are offered a palette ranging from Jazz, Blues, to country and even rock really punchy, through the good old Keith riffs, without asking any questions. Everything sounds obvious. Fingers as a pick. This is not a skyscraper among others, is a real instrument, and has a real personality.
Frankly, my old Telecaster like a cantankerous old bones next. I'm embarrassed for her.
OVERALL OPINION
I use this guitar for 3 weeks without a break (and others in recent decades). I can only rarely to play on another - I hope it will pass, anyway! ? . It is totally versatile, while in single coils.
The price - quality ratio? - Incredible!
I would say (do not care, I have already) it is too expensive, it lends credibility to the de-.
We know that a happy guitarist is often a guitarist who has really hurt the wallet.
Anyone looking for a very good instrument could miss this deal because their price does not seem quite "serious." But who is "serious", frankly. Is it serious to 3000 Euros and maybe more in a skyscraper artificially aged factory with full document authenticators, which resembles in all respects with the guitar almost next door charged 3 times less expensive ... (But hey, that's another story: it's called marketing!)
There remains the possibility that I fell on the rare bird, which, in the series, all parameters had converged to ring of HELL! Must see.
Go try one, you'll see.
