«  An excellent value for money »

Best value: Excellent
50W all-tube amp, preamp and 2 2 amplification.
2 Channels: Clean and Overdrive

Each channel has an EQ (Voice) activated by a small knob.
For the clean channel: We think in class A / B (more compressed) or A blow with the whole dynamic of lamps
For the saturated channel: a stage further gain is added, so it has a creamy or more garish depending on the choice equalization.

A general master and two independent volume knobs for each channel

A dear to Blackstar only boosted channel ISF knob: For sound more British (Marshall) or U.S. (Mesa)

Egualisation Bass / Mid / Treb for the overdrive channel, one knob "Tone" for the Clean channel.
Reverb (switchable via footswitch FS-2 included) with a "Dark" option for even more depth and dimmable.

3 outputs HP: 1x8 ohm or 1x16 Ohms 2x8Ohms

Output "Emulated Output" to plug directly into a console

Effects loop

UTILIZATION

Configuration very simple. At first put all the knobs at noon test "voice" of each channel and then turn equa to refine what we found.
The manual is adequate, the best is yet his own ear.
We get a good sound immediately! The lamps heat quickly and 15 seconds the amplifier is ready to send the sauce.

SOUNDS

I was looking for a versatile amp and I turned on the grain Blackstar. I was already the proud owner of a HT Dist-X and I was fully satisfied, so I turned to the head of the same brand.

I play it with a Telecaster Custom and a Les Paul Traditionnal. I plugged in the early 1960a 4x12 cab but I've never really been a fan. Today I plug in a marshall 2x12 cab JVMC212 (a V30 and G12H30) and there is other thing. I actually get all the sounds I'm looking for the clean clear to heavy distortion. If the clean does not replace HotRod and if Disto does not replace a good JCM800 pushed, it still manages to results very convincing!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a few months. I have not tried many styles and I hesitated a long time with a marshall JVM205. But the versatility of Blackstar, ease of use and price (2x cheaper!) Have finally convinced me.

This is an excellent value that will satisfy 90% of cases report! I do not play in stadiums, buying a useless 100W apartment was prohibited. This 50W really appears to me as the perfect companion and cheaply. In addition it has a beautiful face! Be careful to choose the cab that will honor him.
