Choice motivated by: Buying a laptop => need a map "midi" with low latency.
Usage: many plugins + VST instruments, Cubase SX3 or Tracktion. Plus a guitar audio from time to time
Config: Medion 95921 Notebook / Intel Centrino Duo T2300E / 2048 MB RAM / 120 GB HDD + USB 2 Ext HDD 80GB / Nvidia Geforce Go 7400 / Sound Chipset Realtek ALC883
+ System Connectivity: USB 2 on the laptop

UTILIZATION

Installation: 10/10, no problem
Incompatibility: not rated yet incompatible, but card installed since 4 days
Genral Configuration: 7 / 10, a panel config a bit light and not very explicit setting the ASIO laltence. The rest is smooth.
Manuel: clear and no more.

GETTING STARTED

Other: stable version 0, say. As against impossible to find an update on the Edirol site, not even for Vista (if set off in some audio in Vista ...)
Update: see above.
Software: Cubase SX3, Tracktion, Live 6
Latency: 8 to 10 ms without cracking a dozen VST plugins quite greedy + 2 audio tracks with VST guitar (Guitar Rig or Amplitube)
Number of tracks recorded simultaneously: two minimum
Update: dirvers rested on the website of Roland (thank you steakfrites) ;-))

OVERALL OPINION

Date of purchase: 4 days
Cons: "seems" very light so fragile. Transport risky?
Preliminary test: EMU 0404 USB, big disappointment after having had an EMU 1820 which worked nickel ... returned after three months at the music store where I bought it and exchange with the Edirol (great store by the way, congratulations and thank you to playback!)
Quality / Price: 8 / 10, the level of demand and the card is capable of producing is impeccable.
Choice again: without hesitation.
