I use it in my home studio on board: windows 7 laptop with Ableton Live, Magix Samplitude studio.
I control my vst midi with a master keyboard or a drum which acts sampler. I go to the master's of Monitoring and Yamaha HS50M Sennheiser HD-25 SP II, no breath, the sound is clear in all frequency ranges.
UTILIZATION
Also having a MOTU ultralite firewire which cost me 4 times the price of scarlett, I've always had problems with cuts, stalls, crackling sounds, unstable drivers ... scarlett with the sound is still there, faithful to the appointment, and that is why you buy an external sound card.
Basic latency is low (20 - 30 ms in ableton), we can probably improve the performance of latency, but I have not tried it yet.
GETTING STARTED
I do not have a manual, no need also for easy installation. In the box there's just an installation guide and specifications.
The installation is done it without problems?
It's simple, I downloaded and installed the drivers, I plugged the scarlett and his fate immediately. When I unplug the usb of scarlett, the internal sound card of the PC takes over. I reconnected the scarlett, it becomes my default device. What can I say?
OVERALL OPINION
Conclusion: You do not want more than 2 inputs (jack / XLR), you have a tight budget (200 euros), you want a plug and play sound card, you will not be disappointed with the Scarlett 2i4 has a quality / very attractive price.
