Purchased after reading an article in the press
Connected to a MIDI master keyboard, the Audiobox I use to trigger samples stored in a laptop for mobile music.
(Virtual piano, virtual orchestra, sound effects etc ...)


UTILIZATION


Latency is adjustable. It's a big strong point.
One can find the compromise between latency and processor performance.
I chose 18 ms but can go below.
The drivers are stable.

GETTING STARTED

Installation is no problem.
Do not need manual, the indication is displayed in French as well.

OVERALL OPINION

I had a very bad experience with Alesis I / O 2 (beurk!)
This time everything is fine.

Excellent value for money.

Small, compact, efficient, strong!
I use it mainly with my sm57 to record my acoustic guitar (nylon and gypsy), connected directly to my pc.
Regarding my computer config (win7) is rather light but works well for music, that's all I ask. 

UTILIZATION

Drivers stable, in fact it depends on the stability of your pc: some have had major latency issues, in my case I never had this concern.
I use acid pro 4 for registering, but with this software I can record one track at a time. For reading, for now I can read multiple tracks, the only limit is the RAM.

GETTING STARTED

We plug in the device powered by USB, it installs the operating cd and go!
Regarding the config, 5 knobs (inst + mic1, inst + mic2 + (jack / XLR) an LED clip for each, a mixer input / playback very useful, a phone and a hand, a 48v phantom power) for front.
An exit left, one right, a phone and midi in and out the rear.
So yes, very easy configuration!
Regarding the manual ... nothing, but it was almost useless. (There may be one, but as I bought secondhand ...).
I forgot, sold with Cubase, but I could not register it as it was previously done is saved with the previous user.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 7 months and I am completely satisfied! stable, no breath, ideal for recording acoustic instruments, what I do mostly.
I tried other models like Line6 Pod, but I preferred this mdel, which brings me to the following topic:
What I like about this model is that there is no interface, no sound bank or modeling, which to me is a huge time saver, at least the sound you creates is ours, no frills other than the addition of our potential effects pedals!
What is missing in my opinion is at least a meter and the knobs are a bit small for my taste, but details are only given the quality of the device.
Excellent value for money considering what it cost me and if I had to redo the selection of that brand, I would take a more elaborate model. Try

Having read a lot of tests and reviews on this type of hardware:
the preamps, the case in metal until all potentiomtres, the new software provided and not any but : multimedia Artist Studio One, much better than the former Cubase LE.
Instruments: Guitars, keyboards.
Microphones: dynamic (D330BT AKG, Shure 58) and condenser (AKG 220, MXL990), and finally need preamps, those of the Audio Box are excellent, the first that I meet of this quality, with the same price range as the Edirol UA-4FX and their big sisters ..
Already adapted in direct / mobile and on portable Mac (to save workspace).

UTILIZATION

Drivers, very well known, not easier, there are updates but I have not used them, because everything functions well.
The Software: of course Studio One Artist, a thundering surprise, and Mixcraft + Samplitude.
The tracks in pairs, for now read 12/14.
Latency measurement without choice: 4ms.

GETTING STARTED

Installation, cable and CD drivers, and for Windows desktop PC operating systems XP and Seven ..
Hardware configuration very easy: gain, mixing, monitoring, good.
No incompatibility issue to date, that is why I waited a bit before posting a review.
The manual is useless and fun because you can still find the explanation for using Cubase LE not provided for a while now.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 15 days and is very useful to me.
Other models? Yes alot.; =)

Pros: the preamp, the look, the impression of solidity compared to its small size,
all in metal, not an ounce of plastic = no parasite invasion, the ease of use ..

Cons: where?
Whereas if you consider the price of the Bundle and the quality of Audiobox, as of today, 149 Euros new, this is by far the best offer you can not miss.
To this day I would repeat without hesitating my choice, no need to invest anymore in
FireWire modles, USB 2 is an achievement.

* I was looking for an A / D interface 2 channels minimum, running under linux and with good preamps
* The configuration is interesting to me: Guitar and vocals between Jack and then in effect processor and Rackarrack sooperlooper (looper).
* Use is: live performance guitar / vocals
* Computer Requirements:
I tested with two systems:
- Tour processor low-end AMD Athlon 2.7 GHz L2 Cache 1024 KB, 2GB of RAM running Ubuntu Studio rel Jaunty time kernel as an audio interface with Intel HDA alternative.
- Latest issue laptop Intel Core 2 Duo 1.3 GHz dual processor with 4 GB of memory and Ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx noyeu 2.6.32-25 not rel time with native Intel HDA audio interface 

UTILIZATION

* USB Audio drivers linux apparently stable
* I use the audio software on linux (jack, rackarrack, guitarix, ardor, rosegarden, hydrogen ...)
* Number of track record: 2, since the interface has only two entries.
* No need to update
* Latency: I measure when the computer was running rackarrack is very demanding in terms of audio processing as it turns conjuction up to 10 guitar effects. The acquisition frequence selected is 48 kHz.
- On tour with Athlon processor with jack + rackarrack: interface with systm = 8 ms (128 ech / PERIOD, PERIOD 3 per pad) with the same USB AudioBox
- On the laptop with intel dual core: works well. The minimum latency is 8 ms with 3 Periods per buffer and 128 samples per PERIOD. I can not go below this latency either the card integrates with the laptop (intel HDA).
I do not know exactly how typical to the computer is important because the processor does not ultimately turn a lot. On the Athlon, which is weak, it occupied up to 60%. I don't understand why I can not fall below 8 ms even if it's enough.

GETTING STARTED

No configuration necessary.
If you do not have any sound:
- Be careful to organize well the software associated with the Jack. For Rackarrack for example, you must verify that the number of period by buffer is the same as that of the jack otherwise no sound.
- There is a potentiomtre that fixes the mixing between the input / output in the listening
In fact the absence of sound can be attributed to the AudioBox, then it has nothing to do ...

OVERALL OPINION

* I use it for a month
* I have not tried other models (of this type) before.
* What I love most: the sound is very good
* What I like least: the low readability of  potentiomtres
* Excellent price/quality
* Yes I would make this choice again

I was looking for an external sound card that maximized the quality / price ratio for D/A converters.

I use it with a RODE, or instruments in XLR. I use monster cables.

I use it for recording with my Dual Core.

UTILIZATION

The drivers are stable in the case where one downloads the latest on the website.  We can throw out the installation cd once we got home.

I use FL Studio 9 for all process steps. As usual, the adjustment of the latency is what more tanning.

We did not talk about what is most interesting: How does that sound?

The A / D converters are very interesting for the price, for this reason I suggest it for those who want the good stuff semi-pro not too expensive.

The product is clearly superior to all M-Audieux that I heard.

Only problem, the headset jack has virtually no bass, it annoys me because it sounds attacking when I mix with headphones. In this case, I use the internal sound card on my laptop!!
