Native Instruments today announced Alicia's Keys, a new software that recreates Alicia Keys' personal grand piano with outstanding authenticity and playability.
Developed in close collaboration with the artist, the software is used as the primary instrument on her new album and on the current world tour. Alicia’s Keys is designed as a digital recreation of Alicia Key’s own custom Yamaha “C3 Neo” grand piano based on Native Instruments’ KONTAKT 4 sampler platform.
The instrument was recorded in Alicia’s studio by her engineer Ann Mincieli and sampling expert Thomas Scarbee over the course of two years, the company says.
Utilizing 17 GB of samples with 12 velocity layers per note, and emulation of sonic aspects like key release, sustain pedal functionality and sympathetic resonance, Alicia’s Keys includes a convolution reverb designed to provide various authentic room ambiences ranging from a small piano chamber to a large stage or concert hall.
The product can be used on Windows and Macintosh computers with the included free KONTAKT PLAYER, and can also be loaded into the KONTAKT 4 sampler for additional sound editing.
You can watch a video with Alicia Keys explaining the creation process of the software here:
Pricing & Availability
Alicia’s Keys will be available in April 2010 for a suggested retail price of $119 / 99 EUR.
Additional information on the software, including audio demos, is available at www.native-instruments.com/aliciaskeys.info.
