- Did you have any problems during the installation?

No problems... But installing six DVDs does require some time. It's a pity that you have to decide the configuration in advance (light, medium or full). You have to choose one configuration and you can't change anymore after that.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

- What's your computer? (motherboard/CPU/RAM/HDD/sound card..)

I installed BFD on two powerful computers, a desktop PC (Intel Quad Core @ 3.0 GHz with 4 GB RAM) and a notebook (MacBook Pro 2.5 GHz with 4 GB RAM).

- Does the software work correctly with your setup?

Considering the high price of the product it doesn't really work that well. It's the most unstable and inefficient software I own (I use mainly Reason 4.0, Logic Pro and many VST and AU instruments).

- How is the performance? (if measurable)

Many bugs that I don't understand, it takes too long to load, noise... It's an expensive product with a complicated configuration and a poor performance. I'm not used to sample players with large sound banks, it's actually the first one I own, and after three months of use I'm quite frustrated and disappointed... It makes me angry and drains my creativity. The troubleshooting at the manufacturer's website is not very useful.

- What about the hardware+software configuration stability?

Even though my two computers are very powerful the software has a low performance and it is not reliable.

OVERALL OPINION

- How long have you been using it?

Three months

- Which feature do you like the most / the least?

Main advantage: the sound quality is really amazing, when it works. It's perfect even if the drums are very loud in the mix (like in most modern mixes).

Another advantage is that it's a comprehensive production tool allowing you to freely shape the sound.

Main disadvantage: complicated and time wasting, which ends up crushing your creativity and straining your nerves.

Did you try any of other models before buying it?

I often use Reason and its additional pack REASON DRUMKIT 2. This software is much more intuitive and easy to use. It doesn't sound as good as BFD, but it isn't bad at all and it allows you to produce your ideas quickly. I still use Reason for the preproduction of my drums and then I use BFD2 if necessary.

- How would you rate its value for money?

Expensive considering the poor performance (I hate the awful digital clicks when pushed to the limits).

- Based on your experience, would you buy this product again?

I would like to try SUPERIOR DRUMMER 2.0, which seems to be a more reasonable choice.
