The OB-XD is available as a VST for Windows 32 and 64-bit and VST/AU for Mac OS X, and each is completed with more than 500 presets, including patches from the Oberheim OB-XA.
Though it is based on the three Oberheim synths (both sound and behavior are reproduced here), the OB-XD freeware takes some liberties and features, among others, a filter that can be continuously blended (HP-notch (BP)-HP 12 dB and 24 dB / octave).
You’ll find in the GUI a mixer module for both oscillators and noise source, a filter section with cutoff, resonance, envelope and multi knobs, a Control part with vibrato and velocity modulation for envelope and filter, as well as a Global section with a choice of voice numbers, glide, spread, legato and unison, along with voice variation and pan adjustments.
The user manual, in PDF format, is recommended to understand the different features of the plug-in.
