I am an amateur of Mao in 2003 and I went through all kinds of sound cards and speakers on student ... well the time I had nothing to offer my pro card and tapping ...
This year, I decided to turn the corner and put in my config its a buget accordingly, result: it sounds of course ..
adam a7x the couples a motu ultralite mk3 form a reliable audio and my opinion very long lasting!
use is mainly to listen to my mixes but also playing acoustic guitar and rhodes in vst ..

SOUNDS

I would first point at the first listen is that one is surprised by the clarity of the sound (that insiders excuse my low culture in this area) image STREO impeccable acute magnificent, medium impeccable but the bass does not stand out quite my taste ... worry, you can your band equalizer or couples with a box for the most demanding ..
These speakers do not gift your sound files, and that's where we see the quality of stuff .. Listen for example a piece on deezer ultra compress or badly encoded mp3. In sum c ' is ideal for your work prods.
For low opinions differ (and ten yards is huge) for my part I am not surprised by t yields but say a little higher, you can solve this lack of EQUAL in your prods .

OVERALL OPINION

I use them for 2 days in an area of 20 square meters high ceiling. I never put the volume above the third step, the power is staggering ...
I listened to bering that have too much treble for me, if I had previously owned a pair of krk 6 that I would call shabby quality level because the membrane was let go after 3 months ..
To conclude, if you 're not a beginner like me and you are tired to change gear every year, saving a bit and spend some reliable stuff like the adam made in Germany and if you have a little more round of cot (I know this is off topic) coupled with the good motu ultra lite mk3 ..

I was looking for a good pair of powered monitor setup working for my home studio to replace the speaker Hi-Fi Bose Companion 5. So I spent a month or two to read reviews, find the best value for money. I was going off on a pair of Prodipe to 500 balls when I decided to check the ear that I could read on the internet.
I tried in direct comparison with two to three songs that I knew quite a dozen pregnant, from KRK, Mackie, Fostex, Genelec ... 200 euros to 5000 euros. And then I tried Adam A7X, after listening, I knew that although they are 400 euros off-budget that I could buy those.
After bleeding my bank account on a whim I can say that I was thrilled!

The frequency curve is sufficiently neutral?

After several tests with Sine Sweeps and more displacement of set-ups to find the sweet spot of the acoustic room where I work, I could identify by ear any noticeable difference in the frequency curve. The enclosure is theoretically supposed to reach 50 kHz (well delas that the human ear can hear) ensuring that the loss of neutrality more or less inevitable at the end of the spectrum lies outside the frequency interval useful.

The dynamics are respected?

The question does not arise for speakers in this price point.

The stereo image is good?

Impeccable, but the same as for the question above.

The sound is clear and precise across the spectrum?

So this is for me the highlight of these speakers, bass accurate and bloody sharp mids and highs sublime, in short, no problem at this level there is in my point even stronger, compared to Genelec the same range, which often have large holes in the midrange, these speakers are a perfect example of industry!


OVERALL OPINION

I use these speakers for the past 4-5 months, I expected to know them to post my final opinion here. I've tested, triturated and push to end to see what they have in the belly.
I even took to my country home in order to test them thoroughly in open air (not to exceed 50% of power in the city without the neighbors calling the cops).
At maximum power and outdoors with no reverb and walls to change the listening experience, I noticed an incredible accuracy, a perfect bass presence and the rest of the frequency curve. Short, one breathtaking.

I did listen to these speakers at several friends working in the sound, all were convinced by these little Adam.

At least two dozen models including two or three most expensive and Genelec company, A7X stood out clearly.

What thing do you like most/least about it?

Compared to the other speakers but it's more a matter of taste than anything else, design and finishing. They are enthroned in my studio, beautiful and modern! Nothing to do with Prodipe or Genelec!
Default? I do not see (or not hear) it.

What is your opinion about the value for the price? Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice?

The price is quite high, these speakers are not within reach of every purse, I made a folly beyond my original budget of 400 euros, but I do not regret. That even the best choice I could do since I got into music there it 5 years.
With the experience I would do this choice with your eyes closed. My next speaker will be Adam is on!

With these speakers sound quality of my songs have changed dramatically, I learned so much thanks to them that the 850 euros that I put in was worth every dime! To buy without hesitation.
If my apartment were to catch fire, it's probably the first thing I would try to escape (with my hard drive containing all my work of course!)

The key technical characteristic that motivated my choice was obviously the reputation of Adam's ribbon tweeter. X-art does wonders. I also like the EQ settings, well focused and useful depending on the room.

I use the Adam A7X exclusively for studio monitoring. Composition and mixing. I'm currently more or less pleased with its performance.

SOUNDS

The frequency curve is more or less neutral. At this price point, it's very decent. However, it is necessary in my opinion to add a subwoofer, especially for electronic music. You also have to have good acoustic conditions!

The pros: The higher end of the spectrum is transparent, beautifully reproduced.
The frequencies that take a step back on my headphones (between 3 and 8 kHz) are reproduced with surgical precision on my Adam A7X monitors. A plus for a good mix.

The downside (I think the materials used for the woofer are to blame, but also the high number of channels) is lower midrange definition. It is difficult to hear the smaller details (saturation, distortion, grain) of a bass. I am forced to go and use a headset to be sure of the result. However when you're used to this flaw, this is no big deal. And in this price range, I think no speaker can do better. The definition of lows is excellent and very precise.

The stereo image is breathtaking. On my first listen, I really thought that the sounds would pierce the walls. Compared to the BX8a, there is not a second of doubt, the result is startling.

The dynamics seems respected. Much more than on other speakers.

OVERALL OPINION

After 1 ½ month of use, I am greatly satisfied with these speakers. This is Adam quality!
Previously I did a lot of mixing on Krk RP6 and RP8. It's not there at all, it lacks that little character with the lows and the detail for highs and stereo. I've also tested Yamaha (HS80M) models. The sound does not please me at all, too "garish'' compared to this one, and it is hugely lacking in the lows.

The feature I like the least: The lower midrange. But in my opinion, whether it's Dynaudio, Genelec (which I tried in a store), it's the same issue. The details of the lower midrange are not up to my expectations. But the sound is still striking. What a pleasure to listen to things such as Board Of Canada or Hans Zimmer. The brass for example are reflected beautifully!

The quality/price ratio is excellent! In retrospect, I would choose this again, but only for nearfield listening.
In the future I would rather go for 3-way models (S3X).
