Audio Recording: What U Hear options?

Hi folks

I've just got a laptop (dell Insperon 6400, 2ghz, running XP home) and I'm trying to find out how to record audio from a playing dvd/cd.

I've tried a few free audio recorders (like Audio Mid) from the internet and on my work pc, they have input options that let you record whatever the soundcard plays (like "What U Hear" options), but on my laptop there are only Line In and Microphone options.

Is there any way of changing these options? I have a feeling I might need a different driver for the soundcard.
