Hello!

I recently bought the Alesis multmix 16USB (https://www.thomann.de/thoiw6_artikel-173122.html) from the internet to record drums using my Boss BR-900CD multiitrack. (https://www.thomann.de/thoiw6_boss_br900_cd_prodinfo.html)

I want to upgrade my multitrack to the Boss BR-1600CD(https://www.thomann.de/thoiw6_boss_br1600cd_16spur_hdrecorder_prodinfo.html) but I noticed in the manual of the Alesis multmix 16USB that it can be used as a sound card also.

Do you think I would be better off buying a good laptop and good recording software (I got cubase light with the mixer!) and using my Alesis multmix 16USB to record onto the laptop thru the USB port? If so what programmes would you recommend and would I need to purchase more equipment to recording? Do I need to buy a good soundcard with the laptop or is the Alesis multmix 16USB all that I need?

Or will I just upgrade to the Boss BR-1600CD?

I suppose the pros and cons to both but I just wondering what I am better off doing!!

PS check out what i have done so far at www.myspace.com/pallussinfony! ta!

ABSOLUTELY use a pc with cubase if you're plannig a "bedroom studio", it's WAY more flexible. the Alesis multimix has it all, even the sound card.
the boss is usefull in travel situations
