best possible firewire port for laptop?

hey
i recently bought a mackie Onyx 400F (firewire connection) and i need to connect it to my PC laptop that does not have a firewire port. i know there are ways of getting an attachable firewire port but i want to be careful because i want to maintain the best sound quality possible. what would be the best way to achieve this?

any help is greatly appreciated

The analog to digital conversion happens on the mackie board itself, so by the time it hits your firewire port, its just like any other data, so just make sure you buy a reliable pcmcia/cardbus firewire card and you should be good.
