The TC Electronic G Major rack 2 is a digital effect unit for guitar.
For a list of available effects, better read the leaflet available at the TC.
A PC editor enables the backup of the 100 user presets and change them.
Connectors jack (L + R in, L + R out), MIDI (IN, OUT, THROUGH), RCA (SPDIF I / O), jack (relay for chgt channel amp), jack (pedal)
UTILIZATION
Manual clear and complete.
The buttons fall easily to hand.
The effects are classified under seven different blocks. Easy editing, but beware of the amount of parameters according to their effects. Enough to lose a little if you are not used.
On the real-time control of effect parameters, this rack works with modifiers (there are 4). This interface is between the parameter and the expression pedal. It is currently used to set a minimum level / mid / max expression pedal for each preset.
Example:
We want to handle the volume of the reverb via an expression pedal, but we always want to have a minimum (not having a dry) and not too drown if we support her fully on the pedal. We can therefore set the values change with mini = 4% / 30% = mid / max = 55%
Another example:
If you use an expression pedal to control the input volume. We realize that-60dB to-100dB there is no difference: you can not hear anything! It has almost half the pedal travel, which is useless. So I resolved to change and mini = 40% / 70% = mid / max = 100% My volume pedal is thus-60dB to 0dB on all of his race.
Come on, one for the road:
min = 0% / 10% = mid / max = 20% on a whammy down, and you have a vibrato -1 thy right hand very persuasive. When we play on Les Paul, it changes lives.
SOUND QUALITY

The absence of distortion justifies the use through the effects loop of the amp, preferably in series. A night in a parallel loop wahwah, tremolo ...
You can have up to 7 simultaneous effects blocks. But do we use it all the time all at once? We may want to put an end, then remove it to put another ... etc. We must plan a MIDI pedal that ensures the program changes and control changes.
The Yamaha MFC10 is fine. It can send up to 100 CC! And 10 are sufficient to take over the major G 2: 7 blocks effect (on / off) + + tuner mute tap tempo + boost.
I added an additional expression pedal to get a wah-wah pedal while keeping my volume.
For my part, reverse delay and pitch smart are famous! The boost increases the volume for a solo instance, very convenient.
OVERALL OPINION
For 1 year: no problem. I regularly discover new things about the beast.
The rack itself was good value for money. But ... one is quickly forced to buy a MIDI pedal that costs almost as much as the rack (about 275 € for the Yamaha MFC10).
The pedals control tc did not inspire confidence for what I wanted to do, namely to manage my rack like so many effects pedals separated.
