After Paul Yandell’s decease, his family encouraged Tom Jones to pursue the project, so he finalized the Duo-Tron and officially introduces it this week.
The Duo-Tron is widely inspired by the very first humbucking pickup designed for electric guitar, which was invented by Ray Butts (with whom Paul Yandell also collaborated) in the late 1950s. It is equipped with screw poles and rails and regarding its sound, TV Jones says that the low-end will remind the Filter’Tron, with a more dynamic attack and a more rounded tone, while the high-end, slightly compressed on the bridge model, is full and will resonate with bendings.
The Duo-Tron can be used for blues, rock and hard-rock, it will also provide good results with fingerpicking.
The Duo-Tron pickup is handmade with american parts. No information regarding its price and availability.
