Why Firewire 410?

The robustness, reliability and ease of use I have to take the digital audio card.

What use?

A semi-professional use, to cope with a keyboard controller and ensure its top with the range of VSTI, doing rehearsals at home without killing the neighbors (guitar, bass, keyboard, vocals), doing recording sessions ( Live or static or dynamic microphone after what sample) and to ensure the lives or Beef (handle returns if necessary or apply direct effect in Guitar Rig for example).

UTILIZATION

Installing the M-Audio Firewire 410 and Incompatibilities

- Super Easy, even for someone who know nothing. Just install the drivers then plug the Firewire 410 to Firewire or Firewire controller. Hick still a small, completely install the drivers provided with the audio card, not those available at www.m-audio.com if one is not for Windows XP SP2. The last driver to provide www.m-audio.com was released on 15/01/05 and will not install correctly if it is SP2. Otherwise the driver installed but not correctly, there's an error when updating the Windows registry and creates the final ca latency and micro cuts when playing a single mp3 with WMP (Windows Media Player).

Otherwise at the compatibility of the Firewire 410 with the various Software computer music, overall it's not bad at all:

SX-1/2/3 => Not a concern is impeccable 0 latency WDM driver manages ASIO2 +
Sonar-4 => Be impeccable too, latency 0 ASIO2 but not yet available for this release.
Fl Studio-4 => it's a super soft, but when she galley to set. In the end it works well, except for management and hazard of the asio latency hard to stall. Soon to be version 5, and easier to configure.
-Adobe Audition 1.5 => Be nothing to say it works well too, latency 0.
Sound Forge 8.0 => Nikel too, but hey it is not surprising.
-Logic Audio Platinum => No worries nan more, but not easy to configure.
VST-VSTI and => So all depends on the VST or VSTI but overall it's like magic it works well, but need not ask the CPU to the FireWire 410 saturates even faster when. Just put Guitar Rig 6 eg 6 audio and 3 VSTI (Groove Agent, East orchestra + Korg Legacy) and the drama is ... But hey It also depends on the software used. We are still solutions loing Pro Tools.

General configuration:

The-m-audio module that manages I / O (input / output) and very easy to use, any use is an option that allows the Firewire 410 to automatically set according to the software (sampling rate + sample rate).

Manual:

-3 Pages to read ... Easy Nan is no problem. But hey you would have liked more pages ....

GETTING STARTED

Drivers:

I repeat: A small Hick still absolutely install the drivers provided with the audio card, not those available at www.m-audio.com if one is not for Windows XP SP2. Otherwise it works niquel.

For Mac OS, be it's perfect, there's nothing to say, as usual.

Update drivers:

In fact not often appears, as the driver and a global driver for all models of M-Audio. Apparently it's not so often as day began to Windows users.
If not for Mac OS drivers are often updated.

Software used:

I ramble .....

SX-1/2/3 => Not a concern is impeccable 0 latency WDM driver manages ASIO2 +

Latency:

On average, latency 0 bé veiled all ...

The abuse by the saturation of the CPU: (Reminder: PC Config mentioned above)

Test carried out in Sonar 4: 15 audio tracks (with a compression Timeworks EQ per track +) + just for guitar and bass (the guitar rig which is mega mega greedy in CPU) + 6 VSTI (Groove Agent + + Korg Legacy East Orchestra Latin + Afro + Percussion + P2P adventure B4). LA is dead, impossbile mix, or record an additional audio track ...
Test conducted in Cubase SX 1/2/3: no better now than Sonar 4.

Overall, the M-audio firewire 410 is robust, it can go anyway, but not believe that we will be able to play Studio Professional recording a symphony orchestra ...

OVERALL OPINION

How long is my thing

- 2 months and not disappointed one minute. If anything to be honest, I expected more monstrous, finally manage to fill more than 10 really VSTI simutanément, bé nan is not ofSuite ...

Loved ones in this box, metal:

- The design: p, its performance, simplicity ...

Prior to the Firewire 410:

- Sound Blaster Live 128 => nothing to do but hey I know, M-Audio wins the match
- Guillemot Maxi Studio Isis => incomparable, M-Audio Wins Again

Value / Price:

- Really good, not harm it can have Occasion to € 350 for those who want to overspend.

Same choice or not?

- Uh oauip not worry, considering the price no problem, but eventually I will change, that's about to direct me to a solution similar to Pro Tools (CPU dedicated to each task), haaaaaa 1000000 VSTI in simultaneous lol.
