Motivations: The 8 tracks with preamp, the Neutrik XLR / jack (and having been able to test it before
Usage: registration model, including batteries made with enough tracks (although eight is still a fair bit but also to make guitars or singing.
Config: P4 3GHz, 2GB RAM all in one barebone asus (ph1.)
Instrument / Microphone:
- Ct microphone commonly used was a Rode NT1, a Bayerdynamics TGX60 and SM58, we had the opportunity to make a sound recording with Neuman (M149 if I remember correctly, my wife the expert micro), the AKG (A model often used to make pianos) and an entire set (too much for the card) to make a micro-battery (for shure / akg pro gear ... as in anyway.)

UTILIZATION
Relatively easy ... Ct computer I'm doing well plutt priori (um ... I bathe in it for 20 years ... j'crivais my first piece of code in BASIC on my ZX81 when j'tais the Primary School) and ct is provided by the engineered My other half is in the past 7 years (the home of the Radio ...) So, we s 'draws plutt easily in this kind of activity ...
The only somewhat unusual for the monitoring and some connections. But the situation really problmatique that we met we had tried (from a table, external effects only costs before the card, a patch panel, a network of order. ..)
I just tested the card on a linux (ubuntu one, dernire release.) I do not have too much trouble, ss march in 5min APRS is that I said "and if I was testing in linux? " I have not pushed the tests, but it's nice The next step, a port of freebob tent on one of my FreeBSD

GETTING STARTED
The drivers seem stable and the latest update to address the needs or gaps = increasing.
In gnral using Cubase SX3, but also used the card as main sound card under Windows, so with vlc (via adsltv) or winamp.
Latency is correct it does not impede me (I have not the value at hand l.) In particular, I jou (in both senses) with plugins vst amp simulator and my guitar live without a problem.
It was at least making all the tracks with analog, so no problem 8 (or latency supplmentaire or click ...)
OVERALL OPINION
We have this card for over a year and a half.
Pros:
- 8-channel pre-amp XLR / Jack;
- The price (even more so today, even if it was pay more CHRE)
- The quality of the connection (audio anyway)
- The fiabilitbr /> - the full-size rack and firewire (no external card in ph1 which is a bit "small")
Ngatifs points:
- ASIO Direct Monitoring non-support (removes compltement latency recording.)
- Outings and not XLR jack (balanced by jack but cons ...)
- The XLR only between "mic" (ie pramplifi.)
My wife has a relatively extensive exprience in this kind of hardware (such as digi-up with Pro Tools). Me personally I have heard that the old card my wife (semi-external 8 inputs including 2 pramp) of a few years ago (5 years?)
I find the report quality price trs good. The card works without problem, the sound is to go to 8 tracks and ensure the works demand. I do not really compare other pramp card, but they are good and I think to really be better, you need to type in pramps spars and pro.
We use the quiet summer home of the radio to catch the singing and piano in good condition trs. So, we could test the card in terms studio pro. The song is taken trs good and the card to ensure its job without worry. No crash on 6 days (3 weekends) with use of 8 in The Day 12:00.
I would do this choice every time. Especially since I have not seen a map as "sduisante" in the competing offer, you can find cards with good points, but there is always a problem somewhere or missing CHARACTERISTICS .
I would add that even when we had a failure (probably the firewire ct and d can be a problem on the PC, but not sr.) But the card has t replaced by a new one (new box complte) quickly and without problem.
