Thread Signal Monitor Noise (2i4)

I seem to be getting some monitor noise when I'm directly monitoring, it doesn't show up once a track is recorded and I can't seem to do anything about it with any of the gain on anything I'm using. Is this a problem with my 2i4 (1st Gen)? I'm new to recording so If I'm leaving out some details sorry about that.
