Using Zoom U-44 with Focusrite Clarett 4pre (SPDIF) ins/outs

Hi,

I have an analogue delay modeler (stereo) that I want to route through my DAW. My main pre-amp ~ Focusrite Clarett 4pre ~ has all it's outputs taken up, apart from SPDIF in & out.
Would it be possible to use the Zoom U-44 as a secondary pre-amp (with the delay modeler routed through it's 2 channels) & hook it up to my Focusrite pre-amp via both devices' SPDIF ins & outs?
