Scarlett solo- no playback in daw?

Hi im having some serious problems with my Scarlett solo I got today. I got it today used, and Im using cubase 5. I can get direct monitoring sound of the device itself however no vsts such as guitar rig are giving any sound. It did work for a couple seconds but soon stopped and guitar rig said cpu overload in the top right corner. All drivers are installed correctly. Im so angry I dont know what to do with myself rn. Plz help.
