Thread AC mains power 18i20 3rd gen scarlett sounds better but why?

Tried the 18i20 a while back and compared it to the 18i8 and UAD's arrow, it blows both of them out of the water! DI Guitar tone with in-the-box FREEWARE vst's sounds professional and huge while the wall wart powered 18i8 and bus powered arrow sound thin, shrill, washy etc etc..

I think the main difference is that the 18i20 is mains powered and it juicing up the pre's properly. Any thoughts on this?
