Hi all, I just invest for the version of Pro Tools LE 7
For installation, no problem, as usual Digidesign, very easy and hassle free.
The manual is in English, as the software, so the bases are necessary but the software is intuitive, so by taking a minimum it's going to the head.
Warning against by some plug-ins also require an upgrade to work
SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE
I have an athlon 64 3200 + on a MSI K8N Neo, 1GB of RAM and two hard drives 7200rpm Sata 150, and an M-Box's first name.
The software eats a max of resources (but not more than 6.9) but given the quality of sound that's understandable, and my config protools runs perfectly, even in the end mix with more than 20 tracks and a lot of plugs, when it is made auxiliary tracks to avoid putting too many plug-in, there's no problem. on the other hand 1GB RAM is required.
The sound quality is impressive, even with a "small" m-box.
It crashes rarely, when the computer is reserved for the zic, even on pc as long as not a whole lot of programs running in the background is nikel.
OVERALL OPINION
I use pro tools for 2 years now, I've always does very pleased.
The upgrade to version 7 is worth it, despite a reorganization of menus that I was a little disturbed at beginners (just take a blow), I am very happy.
The amliorations that struck me most are:
-The instrument tracks, they are much more convenient (no need to create an auxiliary track + one MIDI) and a bunch of small amlioration for MIDI, very practical.
-The Drag and Drop, finally!
-The possibility of grouping of the Regions as tracks
-10 Sends instead of 5
-The possibility to automate all the functions of a plug at a time, I use it rarely but it is super handy when you need it!
-New plugs "Dynamics 3" not bad at all.
So much for me, so it's true that the upgrade is a bit expensive (90) but it's worth, I regret now that I got used to the new features I think are essential ...
