    My favorite DAW

PreSonus Studio One ProfessionalPublished on 04/16/11 at 09:38
Studio One is very much like other DAWs so if your switching from another one it will be a pretty seemless transition. If getting started with Studio One without any prior DAW experience it still will be pretty easy. To me the features in Studio One are very easily accesible. The layout is so clean and organized. Studio One runs fine on my Gateway running Windows XP. (2GB RAM, 2.0GHz processor)

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

It isn't very CPU intensive and I'm saying that while using a bad computer for music. I've been using it for over a year and I'm still sticking with it. It rarely crashes. I use Studio One for recording vocals only, so I can't speak on making beats. I know FL makes it…

I know FL makes it much easier to connect midi controllers and integrate hardware. With my setup when using Studio One, which is all hardware, I don't have problems with it.

    OVERALL OPINION

Studio One is truly great when recording and mixing a song. I've never had such an easy time mixing in any other program. Recording is a breeze as well.

The stock plugins with Studio One are up there with plugins you have to pay for. I know I love the delay, EQ, and reverb. I've never used the compressor but I'm sure it's pretty good.

If you want a smooth time recording a song, editing audio, and mixing it FL is definatly the program for you. To top it off it comes with a "Mastering Section" that I've used for mastering an album. It's very easy to make the levels of the tracks even, and to trim the beginning and ends of all the song. It integrates in with the "Song Mode" so if you make an adjustment to a mix it updates automatically in the mastering section.

Overall Studio One is great in my opinion. It is about the same price as other DAWs but you get more bang for your buck with the plugins it comes with it. I'd recommend it.

    Very simple installation
Recognition of other VST and carefree
Installing a PRESONUS 16.4.2, transparent.ma grandmother could do it!

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

    Core ™ 2 Duo E4000 Series
2 GB Dual Channel DDR2 800 (OC bis 1066 MHz)

    Presonus 16.4.2 FireWire

    Windows XP (SP3)

    No worries with this configuration
Can be some bug with Native Instrument (GR4) if abused by activating a 15 simultaneous effects per track

For cons, I had some surprise with Seven in PRO version
Functions, kind of drag midi file or disappeared or mixdown deffectueu

I therefore counsel under WIN XP

After a year and a half of use, no regret at having to pass under one studio
I worked with Logic Audio (V3 and V5), Cubase (VSTi)
I shall never return because the use of Studio One is user friendly, intuitive and final rendering is huge
Mastering tools like "multiband dynamics" are awesome and so on ....

The possibilities with this software are simply magnificent

Install without any worries, the config is complete and simple little one is accustomed to this kind of soft.
    No inconsistency.
The manual is in English (as the software for that matter) but it's good, it needs to be done pending a possible french version.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

    PC, I7, 860, 4 GB Ram
    Gigabyte P55-CM DU4
    Win7 64-bit
    Formerly MOTU 24 I / O + 2408 MKII Studio firewire live 16-4-2
Powercore X8 6000 + (does not work in 64 bit and TC is not very reactive)
No worries on the software side, but we must have faith to move into 64-bit

It's not super stable but not because of Studio One which has no worries

    OVERALL OPINION

I trifuoille on since 2 / 3 months as my main sequencer is Cubase 5.1.1
Before I got Logic but since the purchase of Apple ...
Studio One is quite simple to learn, with very good to excellent effect: much better than Cubase. Eq super, comp ... very musical
But the top is a manip I did today. I made a live studio and live with 2 Capture, and mix with one studio. Super impressed by the sound, the effectiveness of plugs. And enlightenment: I imported studio drum tracks that I try in vain to mix in cubase and I am doing a mini mix of the harvester. And there is a vamp, all that is tight, small and ugly with steinberg becomes large living and making it sound like I thought I had done, but that did not sound. So the audio engine is really great, the folks at Presonus have ears! Note that I have the same feeling with Studio Live with consoles really bcp more expensive (M7CL, ...). I VAIT make a smooth transition to Cubase Studio One. It has fewer features but in cubase is 25 years of existence, while SO is still a baby but will become very large.
A bit expensive compared to the Pro version but I used the offer of giving Presonus Artist with bcp version of these products and then an upgrade for 200 € and there is unbeatable.
I would do this problem without choice

    Too bad ...

Nothing to say the installation, without worries.

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Stable, no bugs, robust, reactive, short ... Nickel

    OVERALL OPINION

Accustomed to Acid Pro, I very well hung with Studio One. Really great app.
I could adopt but unfortunately .... Can not adjust the Windows volume, you must leave it to Studio One .... It's really stupid. Moreover reaper suffers the same problem.
If someone finds a solution (without a workaround for the hard huh ...) I could re-evaluate my note ...

And if so, I tried a lot of multitrack, my preferred solution remains Record / Reason.

No installation problems, apart from a huge amount of vst does not work with version 64 of windows7 (except Vst home "native") by any cons with 32 passes impeccable, except "sample moog" and some other vst fx but minor overall.

If not exceptional, simple (connoisseurs mao 5 / 10 minutes to tame the beast ... a whole course).

    SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Level audio engine it sounds perfect, no loss of momentum in export instantly nothing to do with cubase (With Cubase I never understood why export loses sound volume / dynamics, kicks it sounded tiny I missed a lot of competition this story short and say they are the market leaders).

At the edition mode nothing to say SIMPLE, DIRECT AND INTUITIVE ULTRA, I can finally use my many VSTS, I find my habits reasoniennes moreover, a real pleasure. Always the same on the cubase score editor is to pick up, with their removable window system, a real game of legos.

The automation can be managed without concern, (same system as in cubase) and for MIDI my keyboard was easily recognized.

Fx The plugs are excellent, by the cons plugs instrumentals are fairly basic, but still correct.
Everything is impeccable short, a true treasure, I think I'll pass it centuries before him good lol.

    Small least:

1.The "Cpu", (although I walk on the P8700 Core2Duo with 4 GB of RAM), it goes fast enough, so he must learn to limit the level vst,
    3. Rewire mode (reason) just a little but then struggled to find the channels in Reason and assign a Stereo track, combining two tracks Reason, Cubase on this story is simpler.
    4. A little more clarity in the soft color would not be refused, and an improved management console in visual color mixing well.

But these are mere trifles, overall, I find no false notes

    OVERALL OPINION

Finally I would say the price is worth it, it's a little expensive but certainly quickly pays for the quality of software.

The key words defining this app: Simple, effective and fast, it fits you and not you to him.

To conclude ... Hello Goodbye Steinberg Presonus; oD I already walking with a sound card to home, the more Daw is perfect.

    OVERALL OPINION

computer music ... I recorded the sound of my TD12 in 10 minutes ... (Wave and MIDI) is a simple ...

    I tried Cubase 5 = not included (I liked the sequel 2, but it's pretty limited .. I pity S1 now!)
    I tried Reason 5 = idem cubase

I highly recommend it ... The sound of a terrible sin!
