Published on 04/04/13 at 10:40Analog pedal that reproduces the sound of Fender tweed amps. 3-band equalizer, level, a "voice" knob which is reminiscent of the knob "contour" of some amps and a "drive" knob. 9 v battery or power supply, metal case, looks solid! True bypass, does not alter the sound of your effects loop once the pedal is switched off.
UTILIZATION
It could not be any easier, it works as a preamp into an amp, you turn your knobs, and you always get good sounds!
SOUND QUALITY
Clap your hands! Incredible quality of this little beast for the price! The equalizer is super efficient and lets you shape your sound without compromise, HUGE bass tones, fat mid-tones and treble just perfect. One can find very quickly the sound he/she has in mind! The drive is impressive too and very musical, leading you in good old rock territory and reacting well to palm-muting. But the magic begins when you touch the "voice" knob: turn it left and you have hot twangy tones reminiscent of the 1950s (and this is pure happiness!); the more you turn it clockwise the more you have a fat throaty tone that just screams ROCK!
OVERALL OPINION
This pedal went into my pedalboard one week ago (last position in the chain; remember: it's a preamp, not an OD stompbox). I bought it as a whim because of the price. It turned out to be a revelation! I cannot stop playing it. Dire straits, U2, Coldplay, RHCP, all these people came to the house's invite for an irrisory price. But also classic electric blues (think early Buddy Guy) and classic rock (think, well ... everything!). I think that the experience JOYO has only just begun, quality/ price ratio is stunning!
