I know that many musicians claim that this is the best digital delay units on the market. I wouldn't disagree, but I just couldn't jive with it. For me this unit is in someways over produced. There are so many tweaking capabilities that I found myself playing with this thing more than playing the guitar itself. There is so many options that is got to be too much for me. I like things simple and easy. I don't like things to be too complicated. I like plug in and go.

SOUND QUALITY

I played this unit with an assortment of rigs. I tried it will my Gibson Les Paul and I tried it with my Fender STratocatser and several different amps and I just couldn't get a tone that I liked. I also found that the volume would drop when I would engage the unit. I had it on the guitar line out puts and inputs and there was a noticeable differ3nce in volume when I clicked this thing on. Perhaps I need to have the output the line level out or whatever it read. Either way it was enough for me to dump it. I'm sure I could have with a little more time figured out how to run this ting properly but I am impatience and it didn't hit me right off the bat. There update via the internet are very easy and I like that capability. I really like Eventide but my patience in thin and they have so much tweak ability in their products that I would not find pleasing.

OVERALL OPINION

At new these units come in at around $399. On the used market you can get them under $300. Not a bad price for this unit. It definitely is the best delay out there but too much figuring out for me. I don't use that much effects in my gigging rig anyway so this thing was just overkill for me.

UTILIZATION

I’ve used mine in conjunction with a Eventide Space delay, in front of an amp, in the Fx loop, and in the studio with an Apogee Duet 2 soundcard. Can't be simple than this

Deep and powerful stombox, that sounds great, but can sound stellar if you read the very well written manual.



SOUND QUALITY

First of all let me say what kind of bands I like and play.
Tool, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, Meshuggah, Massive Attack.
Ambient, trippy prog rock.
As also stated in my Eventide Space review, I’am a real delay and reverb junkie, and all I can say is that only this box can satisfy my needs completely.

It has the possibility to use it as a Twin Delay, with up to 3 seconds each.

Like my Space Reverb stombox, I’ve used it extensively in the studio too as an Fx processor, and It replaced my Soundtoys Echoboy plugin.
Use it on guitars, drums, synth, vocals and everything will come to life with just the turn of a few knobs.

The key feature is the Xknob.
Based on what Algorithm is selected, it is used to Simulate analog hiss (TapeEcho), select the number of bit resolution (VintageDelay), select the Modulation Wave Shape (ModDelay) and so on.
By now the 3 above plus the Multidelay are my favourite algorithms.

The Looper is fantastic. It can record up to 12 seconds at normal speed, and up to 48 seconds at ¼ of the speed (the signal get degradated at slower speeds.

The pedal didn’t colour in any way your sound, and it can goes from fat, overdriven delays tails, to Modern Hi-Fi repetition with just a few knobs turned.


OVERALL OPINION

The new dropped price is a bargain for what you get..

Usb Upgradable, 100 presets, and line in and outputs connections and you will understand that the price is not soo much after all.
It is however a really deep pedal, but if you read the manual, and watch the really helpful online tutorials (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHo9prBN1R4 ), you will have tonal options for years to come.

The eventide Timefactor is a stomp box that has the capabilities of a much larger rack unit. It has 9 different delay models and a modestly featured looper.
Standard 1/4" stereo inputs and outputs, jacks for an expression pedal and external footswitch, and DC power jack. There are also switches to set the input and output levels to match the signal with an effects loop or guitar.

It can store 50 banks with two presets each giving you 100 user writable spots. Each preset can have two different delay times synced to a tap tempo in BPM or milliseconds with many subdivisions. There are filters available to tailor the delay sound and the list of features goes on and on.

UTILIZATION

With all the options available it is surprisingly simple to set up and get going. The pedal can easily function like a standard delay stomp box without getting into all of the other options. The manual is written very well and easily clears up any confusion about the features. In addition to the manual there is a very good support forum on eventide's website.

SOUND QUALITY

I use the timefactor in a guitar setup running through my amp's effects loop but I can definitely see this being useful as a piece of outboard gear for a live PA rig or in the studio. Being able to choose between a true bypass or relay bypass is great for people worried about their tone being altered. I keep mine set on relay bypass and I don't notice any ill effect on my sound. The ad/da conversion is very well done. All of the delays are very clear unless you want them to be murky and even the biggest mix levels never seem to muddy everything. Can't really ask for more.

My favorite sounds are the tape and band delays. The tape has a saturation control that allows you to determine how gritty the echo is. Add that to the filer section and you can get a great amount of different sounds that are perfect for adding a warm echo. The band delay has basically allowed me to remove my modulation pedals from my board. I pretty much never use modulation on distorted sounds and always use delay on clean sounds so having it in one stomp is great.

OVERALL OPINION

This is a beast of a delay pedal that may be overkill for some people. The amount of options can be overwhelming but you don't have to use them all. The standard delays alone are better than any other digital pedal I have ever owned. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a feature full delay or anyone who is concerned with sound quality above all else. The only issue I have ever had is with the power adapter. It is not as tight as others and can be bumped out causing a power outage. It reboots quickly and surprisingly my signal has stayed intact the few times this has happened. I have read others complaining to eventide about this so let's hope for a future fix,

This is probably Eventide's second most famous pedal they have released. It contains all of their super famous delay algorithms and a looper. It's fully MIDI, updatable by USB 2.0, true bypass, can work in guitar or line level applications and can work in either mono or stereo.

UTILIZATION

Eventide did an awesome job in making this pedal. First of all, it's extremely sturdy and built like a tank. You could hurl this thing off the top floor of a building, and it should still work. The switches are extremely high quality, and it's true bypass so there will be no direct harm to your tone. The menus themselves are a lot easier to use than the rack stuff, I've found. There are tons and tons of features in here, so it's hard to exactly explain every little detail, so it's best to read the manual. The Eventide manuals are fairly long and a bit boring, but if you take the time to sit down with them, you'll know the thing in and out. The best thing is that this pedal is fully MIDI. You can have tons of presets set up and switch them all with a MIDI board. That means no fumbling around on the ground all the time every time you want to switch to different presets that are a few banks away.

SOUND QUALITY

The delays in this pedal are truly spectacular. First of all, it contains a basic delay. With so many other huge delay pedals like this, they forget that all you need is a basic delay for most part. That's a big thing I wanted. On top of that, they have tons of different delays such as reverse and modulated delay to help give unique sounds that can't easily be created with run of the mill delay pedals.

OVERALL OPINION

If you don't need any of the pitch effects that the PitchFactor offers, this is the pedal you'll want to try to get. It's a bit expensive, but it's worth every penny. The delays are top notch, it's built like a tank, has full MIDI implementation and is true bypass.

Only regret the impossibility of looper while simultaneously using a delay.
For the rest, the character speak for themselves, we are dealing with the Rolls Royce of delay.
Some details about version 2.0 of the firmware:
It has 20 preset banks, 40 presets, fully programmable, software-basically handled by the usb.
We can now reprogram the footswitch assignment.
The pedal can now go on a self-oscillation (feedback to 110%).
We have a spillover, which changes gradually to another delay when changing preset (and not only for the bypass function).

UTILIZATION

It is taken in hand quickly enough in the end even if not inevitably escapes the appearance gasworks. After reading the manual, nothing wrong.

The loop is full of surprises with the controls it provides.

It can emulate ring modulators, the rotary, chorus, reverb and other good stuff that the pedal is not explicitly provided for it originally ... It was truly free rein to experiment.

OVERALL OPINION

I did that for two days, but I'm a big user of delays / loops and I already know it's going to be the centerpiece of my pedalboard for many years, regardless of my education (folk, rock, electro-rock, etc.).

Eventide is constantly updated, the last date of January 2010, and I came with ... This rule also the problem of spillover effects between banks, which was criticized by a previous opinions.

Ok we approach the 400 € for a stompbox, but it's really the ultimate weapon for those who want a hefty delay.
A set may be in competition with the Line6 DL-4 which models can be complementary. When I am famous and wealthy (...) I have the 2 and I sync via midi-clock? In the meantime, and after having tried a few, my choice was the Eventide and I would do the same if the opportunity were to arise again.

UTILIZATION

It's a great machine, complete. Editing presets is provided, you can go really far in the setting.

SOUND QUALITY

It includes, in addition to classical times, excellent creative tools (I think the band-delay in another). I also use a G-Force, a nova delay, a DD3 (I'm quite a fan of delays and for me , the eventide is the most updated version of what is done in terms of delay.

I use it for about 1 month.
I still have quite a flat, which is why I wanted to share my opinion (I guess I'm not the only one but I invite users to correct me if I tell crap .
Me, I play in a band where we play live with a click. I usually set my delays depending on the tempo of the song. Yes, you can program presets users. The big problem is that there's only bank and no bank UP DOWN! As in V2 y '50 banks, for example if you say: ok, gonna give me my presets depending on the playlist (already shitty thing, if you change the playlist, but is), comes the second song , you say, ok I spend on the bank and 2 ... oops, I pressed one time too, the bank Chuis 3. How to return to bank 2? Simple, you press the button 50 x bank up, go through all the banks to return to square one Easy live! But pkoi devil did not he planned a bank down ????? I can already hear some say yes but there's a tap tempo. It Vree. I do not care of tap tempo, for 2 reasons: first, I do not like tap tap tap ... is in full concert, it says me and ESPECIALLY not, this machine being so "creative", that is so happy she could spend more time changing mode delay (digital to tape, to tape delay etc.) in one song.

The Eventide Time Factor is a digital delay pedal that is made for guitar and features a wide array of different types of delays.  The pedal has two 1/4 inch inputs and outputs as well as 1/4 inch connections for an expression pedal and an aux switch.  It also has a USB connection and is powered by the 9 volt power supply that comes with it.  It isn't a rack mountable piece of gear as it is foot pedal.


UTILIZATION

The make up of the Eventide Time Factor is pretty easy to follow.  The pedal has a large variety of parameters including ones for mix, delay mix, delay time A and B, feedback A and B, tempo, depth, speed, and filter.  You can record loops as well as tap out the tempo as well.  While it does take a little bit of playing around with to get used to how to use everything that this pedal has to offer, everything is pretty user friendly so they do make it as easy as possible to do so.  The manual for the Eventide Time Factor pedal is pretty complete and easy to follow, but unless you are a beginner I don't think that one is necessary.


SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the Eventide Time Factor is really clean overall and since this a versatile pedal you can get all sorts of different types of delay sounds.  It has a whole bunch of delay types including digital, vintage, tape, modulation, ducked, and reverse, as well as a looper a few other types of delays.  I usually use the Eventide Time Factor with a Fender Strat and a '76 Fender Twin Reverb amp, so I'm getting a pretty accurate read as to what this pedal really sounds like and I definitely like what I am hearing.


OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Eventide Time Factor guitar pedal for a few months and it is definitely a powerful, versatile delay pedal for guitar players as well as others who want to add delay to their sound.  While this might be a bit too clean and digital sounding for some, I do think that most users will like the way this sounds as it does do a good job of emulating vintage and tape delay sounds.  The price of the Eventide Time Factor is quite expensive for a pedal, so I know that this will shy most people away, but if you can afford this it is definitely worth it.
