Published on 05/22/11 at 06:00Distortion pedal with 4 buttons settings enough reagents (high gain low level), 1 input / 1 output, external power or 9v battery in a metal housing typical at Boss.
UTILIZATION
Use of this distortion is very simple ... Crootte! Me who loves to read the manuals ... 4 examples of settings in the manual, it does not make me happy too
SOUND QUALITY
Very large disto very typical metal must be somewhat subtle to find a setting that suits his style more aggressive as the stoner example, but there are ways anyway.
The low fat sends heavy well, though a bit too mushy if you push too hard.
The high, it soon becomes garish, use with moderation, even shred.
I do not rise too much the level, like 50% or a little more, if not hello breath and feedback (in conjunction with the gain).
Same for the gain too dirty sound when you push a little.
Less versatile than the MT-2, it sounds less "honeycomb", unless (again) is pushed too much high. Compared to MT-2, I prefer the texture of the ML-2.
I would have liked a built-in noise gate and a medium, it is not every noise gate and eq in the basic stuff (gift to my little fledgling guitarist ...).
Rings used on a Peavey Bandit 112 Transtube an HH VS Musician 212 Combo and a few other amps (even) with a cheap Ibanez RG EMG81 mounted in rack, home to the handle, or a Gibson Les Paul Jr., an Aria Pro 2 Cardinal and a Variax, I note a great influence on the pedal of his color, it makes "good" sounding anything ... if we do not listen too closely, after which everything is a matter of taste.
OVERALL OPINION
I tried it a few weeks before it enters its final owner (?).
I could use some OD (OD-2 Boss SD-1, Ibanez Tube Screamer fuzz ...), some (including a wah-wah unknown brand but that sounded really too well dressed to the part hum (dark turquoise metal case for which it would say something ...)) and distos (Boss DS-1, MT-2, ML-2, ME-30, DOD, Ibanez Fat Cat, Metal Charger Electroharmonix Big Muff ...) without counting simus Pod 2.0 Amp.
Regarding the distos, the ML-2 is one of my favorites even though, in my opinion, it lacks the noise gate and eq parametric or a little something from the Big Muff (the roundness of the grain and sustain).
The quality / price? Well ... it's Boss ... good quality, price a bit excessive.
Is what I would do this election? Mmmmmmoui, I might be a little warmer with a slight customization ...
